Thanksgiving dinner options

What are your Thanksgiving dinner plans?

It’s hard to believe, but Thanksgiving is already coming up this week! Are you planning a huge home-cooked feast, or do you prefer less-stress method of dining out?

Staying in

If you’re cooking at home, we’ve looked up some helpful tips on cooking the perfect turkey:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Remove the neck and giblets from the defrosted turkey.
  • Rinse the turkey inside and out with cool water and pat dry.
  • Season the inside and outside with salt, pepper and whatever spices you desire.
  • Place the turkey on a rack in a heavy roasting pan, breast side up.
  • Cover the skin of the turkey with melted butter.
  • Insert an oven safe thermometer into the thigh of the turkey, cover loosely with foil and baste every half hour with butter or turkey drippings.
  • Bake 15 minutes per pound.
  • Remove the foil the last hour of cooking time, the turkey is done when the internal temperature is 180 degrees.
  • Let the turkey rest about 20 minutes before serving so that the juices are redistributed.
  • Carve your turkey as desired and serve with stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and (of course) pie!

Dining out

If cooking your own turkey seems a little out of your comfort zone, there are plenty of restaurants in your area that serve up a great Thanksgiving Day feast! See below for a few of our favorites.

A little of both
