Have You Hugged A Planet Lately? Celebrations And Volunteer Opportunities For Earth Day, April 22
Thursday, April 18th, 2013
Earth Day is Monday, April 22. It’s a chance for us to take some time to focus on how we can make the planet a better place environmentally for everyone that lives here. There’s quite a few events happening across the Twin Cities and Dakota County, you’ll find links to them below.
WCCO put together a great list of greater Twin Cities events for Earth Day. They include a 5k Recycle Run at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, and Como Zoo’s Party For The Planet. Check out all of the events at the WCCO website here: http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/top-lists/best-ways-to-celebrate-earth-day-2013-in-minnesota/#.UW6n2K3ijOQ.gmail
Here’s a few volunteer events closer to Lexington Heights where you could participate in Earth Day activities:

Lebanon Hills Regional Park – Earth Day Park Cleanup (on Sunday)
Sunday, April 21
Lebanon Hills Regional Park will be holding it’s annual spring cleanup in conjunction with Earth Day. Volunteers are encouraged to register for the event and help get the park ready for everyone that comes to enjoy the great outdoors.
In addition to all of these events, there are other ways that you can celebrate ‘Earth Day’ everyday. One way is properly disposing of the your large items such as furniture and electronics. We’ve put together a list of local resources for our Lexington Heights residents where you can drop off these items, and recycle or reuse items like electronics and clothing.
