IT’S ALMOST 2015!
Tuesday, December 30th, 2014
New Year’s Eve is a wonderful time to celebrate and reflect on the previous year, as well as to look forward to the exciting possibilities of the upcoming 365 days!
People choose to celebrate this holiday in many ways. One of the most the notable is witnessing the “dropping of the ball” in New York’s Time Square. Dating back to 1907, this nostalgic tradition has averaged over 1 million spectators each year in person, and over 1 billion who watch on TV! In Sarasota, Florida (home of our Gulf Gate Apartments community) they drop a pineapple, and in other parts of the country the items used to ring in the New Year include a liberty bell replica (Pennsylvania), a pickle (North Carolina), a guitar (Tennessee), and a cheese wedge (Wisconsin). For other fun traditions check out Wikipedia.
