It’s Back to School Time!
Tuesday, August 26th, 2014
It’s hard to believe, but summer is almost over and it’s time to head back to school!
Since the transition from summer vacation to being back in school can be a hectic time for kids and parents, we compiled some helpful hints to make the change a little easier. We hope all of our Salem Green students will have a fun and successful school year!
1.) Make sure to get a good night’s sleep! Elementary children need at least 10-11 hours of sleep a night, and teenagers should get 8-9.
2.) Be prepared! Choose outfits and pack backpacks the night before so that you’re not rushing in the morning trying to decide on what to wear or at the last minute or discovering that one of the younger kids colored all over their sibling’s homework.
3.) Make sure kids have a place to store backpacks, lunch boxes, etc. Students will also need a quiet place to do homework. Let students have a snack and unwind a bit before starting any homework.
4.) Check the weather; you don’t want to be caught off guard if there’s a chance of rain or inclement weather on the way.
5.) Eat breakfast! Studies show that children who do not have a good breakfast are often tardy or absent. Breakfast doesn’t always have to be cereal or eggs, try a slice of leftover pizza or a handful of almonds and a container of yogurt to get your student going.
The Salem Hills elementary bus is bus L and will pick students up at 7:52 a.m. and drop them off at 3:17 p.m. The IGH Middle school and Simley High kids will get picked up at 6:54 a.m. and dropped off at 2:57 pm. That bus letter is O. Both buses pick up and drop off on the north side of the Rec Center.
On the first day of school, Salem Green staff will be greeting the kids in the afternoon with treat bags to celebrate their first day!
