Turtle Power!
Wednesday, August 6th, 2014
This summer, one of our residents went Beyond the Expected for the Mendota Heights community. Rachel, with the help of a few other neighborhood residents, rescued two turtles who wandered onto the street. After noticing these turtles in the middle of the road, Rachel pulled her car over to help rescue them from being hurt by passing vehicles. She was joined by other neighborhood residents, and together they were able to transfer the snapping turtle and painting turtle to safer ground.
During this time of year, turtles can be seen crossing roads near their homes to get to their nesting grounds. Keep this in mind next time you’re cruising down Wagon Wheel or any roads close to lakes or rivers.
We are proud to have residents like Rachel who make a difference in the community and go the extra mile to make sure our four-legged neighbors are taken care of. Awesome job, Rachel!
